A summery Rupert

Horrible as it is, it's getting too hot to even think about tweed. Frankly, Lord Bassington-Bassington just wants to lie in the shade somewhere. This can only mean one thing, namely that it's time to take a break from The Chronicles. We feel quite confident that Lord Bassington-Bassington will return, true to form, come the fall.

In the meantime, here's a picture of a of a young chap called Rupert (no, not that Rupert) that Lord Bassington-Bassington met last summer, while making his way up to the Glastonbury Tor on the trail of the Holy Grail.

Thanks to the Merry Thelemites of Somerset (aka The Somersetians) for the picture.

Have a good summer!

  1. Awe, dear Lordship you and your magestic tweed stories will be greatly missed. I hope for the summer to pass fast so I can enjoy your peacefull and harmonic chronicles again. It was a short but worthwile aquintance. Please have a nice stay in the shade. Sincerely yours. Fat cat baboon.

Wishing his Lordship a happy and recuperative summer, the people, fishermen, peasants, shoe factory workers, Hanoi Air Defence Command, health workers and students send our great Basset a heartfelt greeting.

The Bassetist Youth Choir will mark the occation by singning the anthem "Let us together waddle towards our goals at a leisurely pace (if uphill there will be a sufficient number of breaks on the way)" wearing the mandatory bowtie. Be always rested!

  4. Thank you for those kind words, Mr. Grønseth. May your ears always flap gently in the breeze. And I look forward to hearing that anthem, or, if no recording exists, at least look at the lyrics.

  6. Why, thank you! The same to you and yours. It occurred to me that the previous post here at the Chronicles was a fitting end to the season, as the song in the post was about all sorts of dangers that might befall canines that are out and about.

  7. The other Rupert was the subject of a short article in The Guardian a while ago where he comes out as a heavy metal fan. Perhaps it is time to rename the neofolk lookbook.

  8. Ah, thank you for the link! Excellent article.

But I don't really think there's any need to rename the lookbook, many neofolk fans like metal too. Even I have a soft spot for such sounds.
