It should be obvious to even casual readers of the Lord Bassington-Bassington Chronicles that Lord Bassington-Bassington has a deep love of small press publishing. The sort of people that, in a time of boring crime books on Kindle, put their time, passion and money into producing esoteric and lavish tomes.
So in cooperation with the now reativated club The Heretical Cellar and ultra-cool bookshop Cappelens Forslag, staff from the Chronicles have started a small project entitled Obskur Litteratur (Obscure Literature), dedicated to promoting the small press to the Oslo audience.
The idea is to have a series of evenings with what in the more disgusting end of the music industry is called a "meet and greet", where the publishers can meet a new audience.
The first installment was held a couple of months ago, when Cappelens Forslag hosted Stockholm-based Edda Publishing's Carl Abrahamsson and Fredrik Söderberg. We dare say it was a small success of sorts. So here are some pictures from the evening, courtesy of Mr. Abrahamsson and The Man from O.N.K.E.L.

We are currently negotiating with several exciting small presses for further evenings. In the meantime, we'd like to remind readers that Edda has several new and intriguing releases lined up.

Seems delightful.
ReplyDeleteIf only I could find something similar to this in my own area.
Well, we here at the Chronicles are great believers in the DIY ethic. It could be due to our punk background.
